My friend Ashley Hay and I recently did a shoot for an upcoming videocast that we are working on – Vinyl Monster. Ashley’s brainchild, VM will be a collaborative effort between the Fancy Pants Gangsters and Game Informer. We’re still working out the details, but we’re looking at recording once every two weeks and will feature news and reviews as relates to designer toys, goods and geek merchandise. We’re also going to have tips and tricks for creating your own custom toys and will highlight videos submitted by users showing off their personal collections.

Photoshoot: Kelly Lyall & Corrie Sorenson
Just a quick update to my modeling portfolio! I recently shot with student photographer Kelly Lyall and phenomenal makeup artist Corrie Sorenson. The concept was something that I came up with – wanting to play with a mirror in various states of disrepair. Check out the results below! Enjoy!
Wonder Woman By Douglas Shuler
Douglas Shuler is officially my hero. As if his amazing Zatanna piece wasn’t enough, Doug recently asked me to collaborate on a Wonder Woman tribute with some stellar results.
New Gift Art By BurningInkWorks!
I just wanted to post a super quick update to share a cool new piece of gift art based on my Wonder Woman tribute to Michael Turner. The most amazing thing about this new piece is that it is all burned into wood. The illustration is done by a method known as Pyrography. I’ve pasted his description of the process below.
Zatanna Pinup by Adriana Melo
I tend to cosplay characters I have an interest in, meaning I will spend full evenings browsing through galleries of my favorite heroines on Deviant Art. A few weeks ago I was catching up on the new Zatanna tributes and was blown away to find a new piece that had more than a slight resemblance to yours truly. When checking through my notes and comments later that night, I realized that a few friends had already given me a heads that the amazingly talented artist Adriana Melo used my mug as reference for a stunning pinup.
2010 Convention/Photoshoot Schedule
Spring and summer always signal my life dissolving to complete chaos due to the start of convention season. Between work and play – video game events and cosplay opportunities – I am traveling almost every weekend or busy in my basement polishing off a costume. This is my best effort to stay organized in terms of cosplay, by planning ahead what costumes I intend to debut and at what event. Below you will find the cons I plan on attending both locally and nationally, with a few hopefuls thrown in there if I can scrounge up the funds. I also included a skeleton for my photoshoot schedule in 2010.
Panels on Pages Fangirl of the Month Calendar
Hey all! Exciting news!
You may remember that back in June I was the “Fangirl of the Month” over at PanelsonPages.com. A month or so ago they contacted me to see if I wanted to be a part of their 2010 “Fangirl of the Month Calendar” and naturally, I agreed!
Sneak Peek of My Appearance In Nikki Harris Comic
A couple months back I was approached by artist and all around cool guy Carter Allen about doing reference work for his comic, The Adventures of Nikki Harris. I agreed right away, as I loved the vector-inspired style that he used in the books.
Gift Art Addition By Charles Holbert
I really am spoiled. I recently opened my inbox to find not one or two but FOUR sketches of yours truly by a fantastically talented artist named Charles Holbert. Two of them are inspired by my Zatanna costume and another two are based on my version Aetheria Earhart. While I love them all, I am most blown away by the one of Zee sitting on the trunk. Anyway, I could gush for hours about how much I love these, or you could just check them out after the jump. Enjoy and be sure to check out more of Holbert’s work here!
Original Witchblade Artwork By Suzanne van Pelt
I am not going to deny that I am lucky. In the past few years I have had several phenomenal artists use my cosplay images for reference in their art. The newest piece I received is by Suzanne Van Pelt, who goes by Anathematixs on Deviant Art. Evidently she was strolling the site looking for inspirational images and came across my Witchblade cosplay. As a fan of Witchblade herself, she contacted me and asked if I would mind if she used it as reference for a piece. I had no hesitations after looking at her amazing work, which appears to be done primarily in Photoshop with the aid of a Wacom tablet.
