This costume came long before I had any idea what cosplay was. A very talented photographer named Henri asked me if I wanted to work together on a themed shoot of my choosing.
At that point in time I was exploring a mix of bohemian, Indian and middle eastern design and had decked out my bedroom accordingly. I had a mountain of embellished pillows, a crimson mosquito net and an assorted collection of eclectic cloth. For that reason I suggested we set up something resembling a harem. I had everything I needed so that was that.
I hauled everything over to Henri’s studio, and made a mock set there. It wasn’t nearly as comfortable as it looked; the bed was actually set up on a wooden plank. As for the clothing, I switched between a shirt and the cloth, trading and draping it differently throughout the shoot. I also loaded up on jewelry, especially bangles, to make the look even more diverse. My makeup was done by a lass named Lexi, who did fantastic job on my eyes especially. I did my own hair, going for something big and wavy that would look messy just the right amount.
The shoot lasted for a few hours, and I think we got some pretty great shots out of it. Hope you enjoy!
